when a page cannot be loaded, the user is not notified in any way, the page is merely not loaded. i would like to be able to have a 404 page of some sort.
an example problem caused by this is that i am prohibited from watching videos from some sites in uzbl because i block their ads, and it glitches because the 404 is not handled. the same videos work in browsers like firefox.

Also it's important to log any networking error, such as inability to gethostbyname. This doesn't even seem to be logged on stderr and the statusbar shows "100% ... done" -- quite misleading.

This sounds like something that could be easily handled with uzbl-proxy.
