do you still have this problem? What libwebkit version? Can you post a screenshot? It seems to be working for me, on 2011.11.28 with webkit 1.6.3.

yes. not sure how to add a screenshot, but the problem is obvious - there are no buttons in the top, and no initial text in the message body. it looks like I'm using webkit 1.4.3 (stock ubuntu 11.10 installation).

unfortunately building uzbl from git leaves me with a uzbl-browser that doesn't accept keyboard input..
