Can you try this with recent uzbl from git?
Also, is it when entering new characters, or when erasing (backspace) ?
If so, it may be this issue:  FS#19

Problem occurred on the recent uzbl version from git. It happens if in statusbar presents KEYCMD. Uzbl crashes on entering new cyrillic characters in command mode.

from gdb:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

can you try once more with a more recent version? 2009.11.07 or higher.

Cannot reproduce this with current version. Tried typing in command and backspacing, also open uri with russian characters from keyboard.
